Josh Allen Signs Major Contract with Buffalo Bills

Four-Year, $214,430,37 Deal Includes Significant Bonuses

Additional Incentives Tie Salary to Performance

Josh Allen, the star quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, has signed a four-year contract extension worth $214,430,37, the team announced on Wednesday.

The deal, which officially takes effect in 2023, includes a $13,485,846 signing bonus, $21,443,037 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $53,607,59. In 2024 alone, Allen will earn a base salary of $8,625,000, a restructure bonus of $20,875,000, and a workout bonus of $500,000, while carrying a cap hit of $30,356,281.

The contract includes several incentives that tie Allen's salary to his performance. If he remains on the team's roster on the 5th day of the 2022 league year, $10 million of his 2023 salary will become fully guaranteed. Similarly, if he is still with the Bills on the 5th day of the 2023 league year, $135 million of his 2024 salary and $165 million of a 2025 roster bonus will also become fully guaranteed.

Allen's salary cap numbers are projected to rise throughout the duration of the contract. Included in the deal are roster bonuses ranging from $6 million in 2024 to $25 million in 2025, 2027, and 2028.

The deal is a significant step up for Allen, who has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. In 2022, he accounted for over 5,000 total yards and over 40 touchdowns, leading the Bills to a 13-3 record and a playoff berth. The contract extension secures his future in Buffalo and ensures that he remains one of the highest-paid players in the league.
