Former First-Round Pick Returns to NHL
Avalanche Add Depth to Forward Group
The Colorado Avalanche have signed free-agent forward Alex Galchenyuk to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.
Galchenyuk, a talented left wing, was drafted third overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012. He has since played for the Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, and most recently the Minnesota Wild.
The 30-year-old has signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Avalanche. The deal is worth $775,000 at the NHL salary cap. Galchenyuk had previously signed a one-year contract with the Coyotes on July 1, 2023, with a cap hit of $775,000.
Galchenyuk is known for his offensive abilities and has scored 119 goals and 216 assists in his NHL career.
The Avalanche are hoping that Galchenyuk can add some depth to their forward group. He is a versatile player who can play both center and wing and is known for his ability to create chances for his teammates.
The signing of Galchenyuk is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Avalanche, who are looking to add some depth to their lineup as they prepare for the upcoming season.
