Jerusalem: A City of History and Significance

Bar Kokhba Uprising

In the Bar Kokhba Uprising from 132 to 135 AD, Jerusalem once again became the capital of Judea. After the revolt was suppressed, Emperor Hadrianus merged Iudaea with neighboring cities and renamed it Yehuda.

Saladin's Conquest

Jerusalem holds a sacred significance for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In the 12th century, Muslim ruler Saladin conquered Jerusalem, which became the subject of the Turkish television series "The Conqueror of Jerusalem."

Biblical Significance

Although Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Torah by name, many scholars believe that Salem, mentioned in the Bible, refers to Jerusalem. According to this interpretation, the city was first mentioned in the Old Testament during the time of Abraham.
