Świątek becomes first Polish woman to win a Grand Slam title in singles

In a stunning upset, Iga Świątek defeated Naomi Osaka in straight sets to win the French Open title on Saturday. The 19-year-old Polish star became the first Polish woman to win a Grand Slam title in singles.

Świątek, who was ranked 54th in the world at the start of the tournament, played with poise and confidence throughout the match. She broke Osaka's serve four times and saved all five break points she faced.

Osaka, who was the defending champion and the world No. 2, struggled to find her rhythm against Świątek's aggressive play. She made numerous unforced errors and was unable to break Świątek's serve.

The victory is a major breakthrough for Świątek, who has quickly risen through the ranks of women's tennis. She is now the youngest player to win the French Open since Rafael Nadal in 2005.

Świątek's victory is also a significant moment for Polish tennis. She is the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam title in singles since Agnieszka Radwańska won Wimbledon in 2015.
