Parkville event ensures the memory of the 9/11 victims and heroes lives on each year
PARKVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- While 9/11 may have been 21 years ago, the memory of that tragic day is as fresh as ever for many Americans.
Local vigil created to uplift and inspire
Wednesday night, the 14th annual Spirits in the Night 9/11 Candlelight Vigil will be held in Parkville to honor the victims and heroes of the 9/11 attacks.
The event was created by local resident Patrick Burch in 2009 as a way to bring the community together and uplift and inspire one another.
Local first responders, community leaders, and families of 9/11 victims will be in attendance. The vigil will feature music, readings, and a candle-lighting ceremony.
Event details and speakers
The vigil will be held at the Joe K. BBQ restaurant in Parkville from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Speakers will include Parkville Mayor Dean Acevedo, Baltimore County Fire Captain and Candidate for Congress Liz Matory, and Baltimore County Police Captain and Candidate for Sheriff John Economos.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. In the event of rain, the vigil will be moved inside the restaurant.
